What Badder? My English or Texting while Driving?

Text Messaging Do’s and Do not’s – New for California 2009

It’s funny the way California operates; everything is backwards. Rack-up Billions in debt before passing a budget, pass tax increases before getting the required 2/3 vote, or making it a crime to talk on the phone but not illegal to text. I mean what gives? You would think talking phone would be safer because at least your eyes are on the road, but no. Backwards! Well this is all a moot point anyhow since as of Jan 1st 2009, texting is also illegal.

Well the LA Times asked the CHP What Up, Wit Dat? Here’s what they said. What’s illegal while driving is doing anything email/text messaging. Sending, reading, writing are all illegal. No matter what! If you’re chilling at a light or stuck in 405 traffic; you still cannot text. The same applies for browsing the web. Oh yes; and the phrase: “I’m not driving, I’m riding a motorcycle;” will not fly in court (but legal if riding a bike).

But here’s what you can do. But first some warning; your head may explode after reading this.
You can dial a number while driving, so feel free to use binary code to chat. Also you can use your phone’s GPS or Map. If you’re parked somewhere that is legal, then you can let your fingers fly.

Really it all boils down to this, practice safe driving and keep your eyes on the road; doing this will insure you don’t get a ticket. But if your do; might as well take Online Traffic School
